A Live Scoring Experiment by MRE (feat. KUZA & Story Desk)

March 2026

MMS returns with a bold new evolution—uniting filmmakers and musicians in a one-night live scoring performance unlike anything Nairobi has seen.

For this edition, MMS partners with KUZA and Story Desk to create an immersive experiment where filmmakers submit 1–1.5 minute film clips, and musicians compose original scores live on stage without rehearsal, previews, or preparation.

  • The screen lights up.
  • The beat drops.
  • The score is born in real time.

Submit Your Film Clip

We are inviting filmmakers, visual storytellers, animators, documentary creators, experimental artists, and multidisciplinary makers to submit a short segment from their work.

Clip Requirements:

  • Length: 60–90 seconds
  • Must be clean (no existing music score)
  • Must be submitted with permission from the filmmaker
  • Can be: narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, abstract visuals, performance art, archival, or hybrid work

Deadline: 19 December 2025

About MMS: Film Edition

MMS26.1 transforms the live music experience into a cinematic collaboration. Musicians walk onto the stage with no idea what clip will play. Filmmakers experience their work reimagined through spontaneous sound. The audience witnesses raw instinct, emotion, and improvisation collide in real time.

It’s cinema meets cypher; composition meets chaos; a creative experiment where image sparks sound.

Who Should Submit?

  • Emerging and established filmmakers
  • Music video directors
  • Documentary storytellers
  • Animators and motion artists
  • Experimental & avant-garde creators
  • Students and early-career creators
  • Anyone with a strong visual point of view

There is no genre restriction — only the requirement that your clip has the potential to inspire live sound.
